Avoid eBay insertion fees as your catalog grows

Operator playbook · Listing costs and Store subscriptions

Before growing beyond 250 listings, subscribe to a Basic eBay Store and select the yearly renewal rate. This gives you more zero-insertion-fee listings and helps prevent unexpected charges as your catalog grows.

For most U.S. categories, eBay provides up to 250 zero-insertion-fee listings per month without a Store subscription. After that, eBay generally charges $0.35 for each additional listing.

If 1,000 listings or renewals count during one month, up to 750 could fall outside the standard allowance. At $0.35 each, that could mean $262.50 in insertion fees.

See eBay’s current selling fees for category-specific terms and exclusions.

Store plan Monthly fixed-price allowance Yearly rate, billed monthly Monthly renewal rate
No Store Up to 250 — —
Basic Up to 1,000 $21.95/month $27.95/month
Premium Up to 10,000 $59.95/month $74.95/month
Anchor Up to 25,000 $299.95/month $349.95/month

These are the standard U.S. fixed-price allowances and subscription rates. Certain categories may receive additional listings. Review eBay’s current Store pricing before subscribing or upgrading.

If you intend to grow your catalog through Dropship Calendar, begin with a Basic Store. It increases the standard fixed-price allowance from 250 to 1,000 listings per month.

Monitor your monthly allowance as your catalog grows. Upgrade to Premium before new listings and renewals exhaust the Basic allowance.

Premium increases the standard fixed-price allowance to 10,000 per month. Do not wait until insertion fees begin appearing before upgrading.

When subscribing, select the yearly renewal option.

Despite the name, eBay does not collect the entire year in one payment. The subscription fee is still charged monthly, but you receive the lower monthly rate in exchange for committing to a one-year subscription.

We recommend yearly renewal for users who intend to keep operating their Store throughout the year. Store subscriptions renew automatically, and ending a yearly subscription early may result in an early termination fee. See eBay’s Store subscription terms before subscribing.

The allowance does not apply only to brand-new products. eBay also counts:

  • Manually and automatically relisted products.
  • Each monthly renewal of a Good ’Til Canceled listing.
  • Listings that you or eBay end early.

This means an unsold product can consume another listing allowance when it renews, even if you did not create a new listing that month. Monthly allowances reset each calendar month and do not roll over.

See eBay’s zero-insertion-fee allowance rules for the complete list of included listings and category exceptions.

Use Volume Checker before unsold listings renew

Section titled “Use Volume Checker before unsold listings renew”

Enable Volume Checker in Dropship Calendar.

Volume Checker targets eligible listings that have not made their first sale after 29 days—just before their first typical monthly renewal. Successfully removing those listings helps prevent unsold products from repeatedly consuming your monthly allowance or creating unnecessary insertion fees.

Volume Checker only removes eligible listings, and a listing can remain active if eBay does not accept the removal. Continue monitoring your live catalog and monthly allowance.

See Volume Checker for setup and eligibility details.

Your Store allowance is not your selling limit

Section titled “Your Store allowance is not your selling limit”

An eBay Store subscription helps control listing fees. It does not increase your account’s selling limit or mean that a new account should grow faster.

Continue following Grow your eBay store safely, and never exceed the selling limit shown in Seller Hub.

  • “Zero insertion fee” does not mean selling is completely free. Final value fees, Store subscription fees, optional upgrades, and category-specific fees may still apply.
  • Select yearly renewal only if you expect to keep the Store for the full subscription term.
  • eBay prices and allowances can change, so review the current Store comparison before subscribing or upgrading.
  • These recommendations apply to U.S. eBay accounts. Other countries may have different plans and fees.
